POLICE IN PARIS are investigating after a worker in Disneyland was reportedly found dead in the haunted house attraction at the theme park.
Local newspaper Le Parisien reported that the man is thought to have been electrocuted inside the Phantom Manor attraction of the park between 8am and 9am on Saturday morning.
A 45-year-old technician, he is believed to have been working on lighting at the attraction at the time.
Sky News reports that a post-mortem examination is due to take place – while colleagues who found the man’s body are being interviewed by police.
A Disneyland union representative told Le Parisien that the man was very popular and someone who “always had a smile on his face”.
A spokesperson for Disneyland told the paper that everyone in the park was “deeply saddened” by the man’s death.
The park has stayed open following the death, but the Phantom Manor attraction is expected to remain closed until at least tomorrow.
There have been a number of accidents at Disneyland throughout the years. In 2010, a 53-year-old cast member died after becoming trapped under the It’s a Small World ride when it was accidentally switched on.
The park said that it will be making no further statement until the investigation into the technician’s death has completed.
